You can replace the hard drive in your Xbox 360.

Like a computer, your XBox 360 video game console uses a hard drive to store information. And like a computer, this hard drive can become defective or fail entirely. If your XBox 360 is having trouble processing or saving game information, this is likely the case. The good news is that it´s possible to fix your XBox 360 by replacing the damaged hard drive with a new one.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your XBox 360 and remove the power cable from the back of the console.

    • 2

Turn your XBox 360 on its side and locate the hard drive on the side of the device. It will be a rectangular plastic piece with HDD (Hard Disk Drive) written in the middle.

    • 3

Locate the circular hard drive release button just above the hard drive itself. Press and hold the button while simultaneously sliding the hard drive down and away from the side of the XBox to remove it.

    • 4

Slide a new hard drive--available online or from your XBox retailer--into the bay on the side of the XBox and make sure it locks in place. Replace the power cable and turn on your XBox. Your device should be working perfectly.
