How to Clean Tanned Deer Leather
Deerskin leather is one of the most popular kinds of leather aside from cowhide. Native Americans preferred this leather for its softness, durability and versatility. Most moccasins are made from deerskin leather as this is one of the few types of leather that you can fully submerge and saturate without any ill effects. Pour baby powder onto any grease spots and allow it to sit overnight. Brush the powder off with your hand and/or an old toothbrush.

Fill a sink up with warm water and add 1 tsp. of mild dish detergent. Stir the water with your hand.

Submerge the leather in the water.

Rub the leather gently with your hand in long strokes. Cover the entire surface.

Drain the sink and rinse the deerskin leather.

Towel dry the leather to remove the excess water, then air dry the leather until it is completely dried.
