Curly hair can be difficult to manage and even harder to style. To get curly hair to a more manageable state, it can be turned into a wavy hairstyle. This means less frizz and a mane that can be styled in many different ways for different occasions.

Start with wet hair. Either wash the hair, using plenty of conditioner, or use water and a leave-in conditioner. The leave-in products should be used sparingly, concentrating on the ends of the hair. They can be especially helpful with getting rid of tangles.

Use a wide-tooth comb or hair pick on the wet hair, combing it to completely rid it of any tangles.

Put a little bit of Frizz Ease or another anti-frizz product on your hands and rub them together. A very small amount, about the size of a dime, is enough for medium-length hair. Apply the product evenly, starting at the roots. When it dries, the curls will be smoother and the hair will look wavy.

Keep your hair long. The weight of longer hair makes the hair less curly and more wavy. Trim the ends to prevent split ends, but leave the rest of your hair as long as possible.

Install a diffuser on the end of your blow dryer. This will keep the blow dryer from adding to the frizz but will allow the heat to dry your hair.

Try a hot oil conditioner every 2 weeks to weigh down the hair and make it less curly. Try several different brands to find one what works the best on your hair. Thicker hair often responds better to a more concentrated oil formulation.
