How to Find Green Card Processing Times

Processing times for green card petitions and applications filed with USCIS vary. To help you get an idea of how long you may need to wait for a decision on your case, you can use free, official online tools that estimate USCIS processing times.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' web site at uscis.gov. On the left side of the screen, click the green "Check Status" button.

    • 2

      Scroll down to "Processing Times."

    • 3

Select your form type. Refer to the application or petition form you submitted to USCIS. For example, form I-129F. Click on the "Next" button.

    • 4

Select your sub-form type. Some applications or petitions use the same form. For example, form I-129F may be used for either a K1 fiance visa petition or a K3 visa petition. Choose your type and click "Next."

    • 5

Choose your USCIS service center or office. This is the one that received your case. Click on "Get Results." You will see a bar graph of the local center or office's average processing time for that type of petition or application. You will also see the national average of all USCIS offices and service centers, as well as USCIS's goal.
