How to Become a Level 2 RN
A Level 2 registered nurse, or RN, is a nurse who has completed a Level 2 registered nurse college program and has obtained licensure. Typically, a Level 2 RN is someone who is a licensed practical nurse, or LPN, and goes on to become an RN in a college program, referred to as Level 2. Becoming a Level 2 RN at minimum requires an associate degree in nursing.

Explore different RN Level 2 nursing programs. Review requirements for enrollment. Typical requirements include being a high school graduate with a grade point average of 2.0 or better.

Complete required classes such as anatomy, physiology, and chemistry. Become licensed as a practical nurse if you are not already. Be sure that you have passed the National Certification Licensing Exam to become a licensed practical nurse. You must meet these requirements before enrolling in a Level 2 RN program.

Apply to an RN Level 2 nursing program. Be sure to highlight qualifications.

Enroll in a RN Level 2 nursing program at a community college or a career and technical college.

Complete the coursework needed to finish the program. Apply for licensure to become an RN in the state you desire to work in. Check with the State Board of Nursing for licensure requirements.
