1
Pour water into the bottom half of your double boiler up to the fill line and place the pan on the stove over medium heat.
-
2
Place the top half of the double boiler onto the bottom half and fill it with 1/4 cup of soy wax flakes for each tart you are making.
-
-
3
Stir the wax flakes occasionally with a metal spoon, to speed up the process of melting.
-
4
Drop scent oil into the wax, slowly, until the scent is at your desired intensity. Stir between drops to spread the scent throughout the wax.
-
5
Add dye slowly to the molten wax and stir until the color is as deep as you want it to be. Test the color by dripping a small amount of the wax onto a paper plate. The color of the drip will show you what the finished tart will look like.
-
6
Test the temperature of the wax before pouring it, with a candy thermometer. Adjust the heat until the wax reaches between 126 and 135 degrees F.
-
7
Spray your muffin tin with mold release spray and pour the wax in each muffin cup. Fill each cup about halfway full.
-
8
Allow the wax to cool and set for at least 6 hours; flip the tin over to let the tarts fall out.
