There are many kinds of pests and bugs that invade homes on a daily basis by either flying or crawling inside. Most of the bugs and pests are so small that it is hard to see them entering. They can make their way in through cracks and crevices in openings of the home. Then there are pests and bugs that are big enough to see but can make their way into your home without being noticed.
Analyze pests and bugs that sting or bite. There are various kinds of spiders that come in your home that sting with their bite, such as the brown recluse. These venomous bites can really hurt and need medical attention immediately. Fire ants can make their way into your home, causing a severe sting when they bite. These are little red ants that are usually found in mounds on the front lawn or backyard.
Look for wood-eating bugs and pests. These wood eaters can destroy your home if they are not removed immediately once found. Termites eat and destroy the wood in the walls, ceiling and flooring. Termites are whit, and some have wings and are able to fly to another location in your home to start a new colony. If there is a pipe leakage or an opening in the attic or foundation, termites can work their way in and start eating up the wood of your home. Carpenter ants do not eat the wood, but they make tunnels into wood that is decaying, making the wood even weaker. Carpenter ants are black and brown in color.
Search house plants for bugs and pests. There are such insects as mealy bugs, spider mites and whiteflies that tend to feed on plant sap and kill your house plants. These can all be found on the underside of the leaves. Spidermites leave behind stringy webs throughout the plant, while whiteflies leave behind white sticky material. Mealybugs are tiny scaly whitish brown bugs that make their way to the stems of the plant as well.
Feel the itch from bugs and pests that make you itch. Mosquitos can often be seen in a home during the summer months as they fly in to feed off from human blood. They bite humans and pets, making the bite itch. Flea bites itch, causing real problems particurlarly with your pets if they are not immediately killed inside and outside the home. Bed bugs are microscopic and live in cracks and crevices of the home. They make their way to mattresses, where they bite humans during the night. These bites can cause severe itching, depending on the amount of bed bugs that exist.
Take notice to some of the more commonly seen pests and bugs that invade the home. Fleas and ticks are commonly found, especially if you have pets. Ticks will crawl onto your skin, digging into it to continue to suck on your blood. If they are not removed from your body, they can cause nausea and dizziness. Cockroaches can multiply fast if you do not kill them with insecticide. They are commonly seen during the summer months. Mice and rats are pests that can find their way into a home through attics, basements and any openings in walls. They typically stay where there is little movement and roam during the night.
