Whether you live on a ranch or in the middle of a big city, a cowboy hat is a wonderful fashion statement. No matter what style of cowboy hat you wear, you can set it off with a great hatband. There are many cowboy hatbands on the market, from braided horsehair styles to stylish sterling silver varieties. No matter which hatband you choose, it is important to put it on properly.

Lay the cowboy hat on a flat surface. It will be easier to place the hatband on if the hat is sitting on a firm and level surface.

Lay the hatband out on a flat surface like a table or a desk. Position the hatband so the hatband accent is on the left side. For instance, if the hatband includes a horsehair tassel, that tassel should be on the left-hand side.

Lift the hatband up and carefully place it over the top of the hat. Slide the hatband down over the top of the hat. Carefully push the hatband down until it is sitting firmly around the bottom of the hat.
