How to Put an iPod Into Sleep Mode

The iPod is a simple device to use with minimal controls. Apple works to refine its portable music players so they have a minimal amount of buttons and are operated with a series of gestures and moves. Some commands, such as putting an iPod into sleep mode, can be tricky to figure out. Here is how you can put your iPod to sleep.

Putting iPod into Sleep Mode

1. Pause any music that is currently playing.

2. Press and hold the "Play/Pause" button.

3. Release the "Play/Pause" button after the iPod's screen goes blank. This should take between 5 and 10 seconds.

Tips & Warnings

• An iPod will continue to use some of the battery power while in sleep mode.

• You can set your iPod to automatically sleep after a certain amount of time by going into the "Settings" menu.
