How to Convert BMP Images Into JPG

Converting a BMP image into JPG does not require fancy photo-editing software—though you can certainly convert files that way. Most of the time, you can convert between these two common image formats using software pre-installed on your computer. Files saved with either the .jpg or .jpeg extensions will function in the same manner and open in the same programs.

Things You'll Need

  • Microsoft Paint (optional)
  • Open Microsoft Paint by clicking the Windows “Start” menu, navigating to the "Accessories" folder and clicking on "Paint." Most Windows-based computers come with Paint pre-installed. Choose “JPEG (.JPG, .JPEG, .JPE, .JFIF)” from the “Save as type” dropdown menu, then click the “Save” button.
