How to Convert a BMP to a JPG in Mac

The image viewing application Preview is included as part of the OS X operating system. Preview can open and display popular image formats, such as BMP and JPG, as well as PDF documents. The "Image Correction" option in Preview allows users to adjust settings to improve an image. Preview can also convert files of one image format into a different image format. Preview saves the original file and creates a new, converted file.

Instructions

      Control-click on the BMP file. Use the contextual menu to select "Open With." Select "Preview" from the options.

      Go to the "File" menu and select "Save As."

      Enter a name for the BMP that you're converting and choose where Preview should save the file.

      Set the "Format" to "JPEG." Use the slide bar to set the desired quality in the JPG The higher the quality, the bigger the file size.

      Press "Save" to convert the BMP to a JPG.
