How to Set Up a TiVo DirecTV Remote

When someone purchases either a TiVo or a DirecTV console, the product comes with a peanut-shaped remote control that can be used with it. However, before the remote can be used, it must first be programmed to your specific TiVo/DirecTV console.

Instructions

1. Manually turn on your television.

2. Turn the remote to "DTV" mode by sliding the switch at the top of the remote.

3. Hold onto the "Mute" button and press the "Select" button on the remote at the same time. A green light will blink twice on the top of the remote control.

4. Enter the code of your TiVo/DirecTV console using your remote control. The code can be found in your instructions manual. Once entered, press the button to "Channel Up" slowly until the television turns off. As soon as it does, press the "Select" button to save the code onto your remote. It can now be used with your console.
