How to Repair a Hardware Driver Error on a Computer
A hardware driver is the file that your operating system relies upon to communicate with a particular device attached to the system. Driver errors can be caused by physical damage to the computer or damage caused by viruses or other system problems. You can repair a driver error by reinstalling the driver file for the affected device.

Click "Start" and select "Control Panel."

Click "Device Manager."

Open the category for the affected hardware device. For example, open "Display Adapters" if your video card is the problem.

Double-click on the affected device and select "Drivers."

Click "Update Driver" and select the location of the new driver file. This will overwrite the corrupt file and fix your driver problem.
