Instructions

  1. Suction Cup Mount

    • 1

Clean the inside of your front windshield where the GPS will be mounted. Spray the glass cleaner on the area and wipe it with a paper towel to create a clean area.

    • 2

Attach the suction cup on the cleaned area. Sit in the driver's seat and make sure the GPS mount does not obstruct the driver's view. If you need to change where the GPS is to be mounted, do so. Press the suction cup mount onto the clean glass until it sticks firmly.

    • 3

Attach the GPS unit to the suction cup mount. Run the power cord down into the power source (usually found near the car's radio), making sure the cord also does not obstruct the driver's vision or movements. Turn on the GPS and make sure it is at a perfect viewing level before driving anywhere.

    Dashboard Mount

    • 4

Clean the area of your dashboard where you will be mounting the GPS unit. Use a surface cleaner and wipe down the dash with a paper towel.

    • 5

Attach the mount to the dashboard. In most cases, these gently screw onto the dashboard or stick on with a strong adhesive, so make sure the mount is in the position you want it (not obstructing the driver's vision) before completely installing the mount.

    • 6

Insert the GPS unit into the mount. Run the cords of the unit down into the car's power source, making sure that the cords do not interfere with the driver's ability to steer or shift. Turn on the GPS and try it out to make sure it is in a satisfactory position.

Tips & Warnings

  • There also are GPS mounts that attach to the car's A/C vents.

  • Several states have laws against having anything on the windshield or dashboard because nothing is allowed to obsure the driver's vision. Know your state's laws. You may have to mount your GPS unit below the top of the dashboard or risk getting a ticket.
