Instructions

1
Clean the wood paneling. Use a rag and a mixture of one part vinegar to two parts warm water.
-
2
Fill any nail holes with wood putty. Nail holes that were previously overlooked in the dark knotty pine paneling are noticeable once the pine paneling is painted.
-
-
3
Sand the wood paneling with 100-grit sandpaper to help rough up the wood paneling in preparation for the paint.
-
4
Spot prime any knots in the pine paneling with an oil-based primer to prevent the resin from bleeding through the paint. Allow the oil-based primer to dry completely.
-
5
Apply one coat of tinted primer to the paneling. Use a paint brush to reach into any corner and in the grooves of the panels. Let the tinted primer dry completely.
-
6
Use a paint brush and paint roller to paint the latex paint onto the pine paneling. Depending on the color and quality of latex paint, you may need to apply a second coat of primer to the paneling.
