How to Make a Mouse Sock Puppet

Sock puppets are amusing toys for young children. They are comfortable, versatile and easy to make. A mouse sock puppet can be used for free play, acting out a nursery rhyme, teaching a lesson or telling a story. Since mice have a distinct look, it may seem difficult to make a mouse sock puppet. However, with an old sock, common craft supplies and help from an adult, any child can make his own mouse sock puppet.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 2-inch slit across the toe of the sock. This will form the mouth of the puppet.

    • 2

Cut a pink felt oval 4-inches long and 3-inches wide. Glue the oval into the mouth opening of the puppet and fold it down the middle to close the mouth.

    • 3

Form the nose by cutting a circular piece of pink felt 1/2-inch in diameter. Glue the nose to the toe of the sock, just above the mouth.

    • 4

Glue two "googly" eyes just above the nose, about 1 1/2-inches from each other.

    • 5

Cut out two gray felt circles, each 3-inches in diameter. These will form the mouse's ears.

    • 6

Cut out two pink felt circles, each 2-inches in diameter. Glue the pink felt circles to the middle of the gray felt circles.

    • 7

Glue the ears to the top of the puppet, just behind the eyes.
