How to Make Fabric Baby Toys
Fabric toys are a practical choice for babies because they're soft, so the child won't injure herself, and washable, to handle all that drool and spit-up. Make a personalized present for that baby in your life. Fabric baby blocks can be customized with the baby's initials, letters of the alphabet, numbers, animals and unusual fabrics.

1
Choose a cotton or fleece fabric for your blocks. You can use one or more patterns so each side of the block has a different fabric or they alternate. Decide how big you would like the block to be (5 inches by 5 inches is a good size for most baby blocks). Cut six squares of fabric to the size you decide upon.

2
Lay four of the squares out in a straight line. Place the two remaining squares on the sides of one of the other squares so there is one on either side.

-
3
Sew on any decals, letters or other items you want on the block sides. Or leave them blank and enjoy the fabric pattern you selected.
-
4
Sew the block pieces together in the configuration you have laid out, wrong side up. Then start to sew the pieces together along the side edges to make them all connect into an actual block, again wrong side facing out. Leave a 1-inch section unsewn along one edge.
-
5
Turn the fabric inside out so you are left with an unstuffed fabric block, fabric right side out. Stuff cotton batting into the open section. Stuff until it is completely full and reaches your desired resistance. Hand stitch the open seam closed.

Tips & Warnings
Add crinkly material on the inside to create a crunching sound when baby plays with the toy.
Insert bells on the inside of the cube so they shake when played with.
