Instructions

    • 1

Cover your work surface with newspapers to protect it from paint.

    • 2

Paint the bowl of the wooden spoon the same color as the yarn you chose for the doll's hair. Allow the paint to dry for two to three hours. Test an inconspicuous place with your fingertip, as enamel paint may take a little while to dry depending on the thickness of the coat of paint and the humidity in the weather.

    • 3

Flip the wooden spoon over and paint the back of the spoon a shade of skin tone. Allow the paint to dry again.

    • 4

Use a smaller paintbrush and different colors of paint to add the facial features.

    • 5

Put a dab of glue at the top of the handle of the wooden spoon. Place the start of the ribbon on top of the glue and hold for about 20 seconds to help the glue adhere.

    • 6

Wrap the ribbon tightly around the handle of the spoon all the way to the end. Use another dab of glue to hold the ribbon in place.

    • 7

Cut out scraps of fabric to make clothes for the wooden spoon dolls. Wrap the fabric around the handle of the spoon to dress the doll. Use glue to hold in place or use a needle and thread to make a strong hold.

    • 8

Cut a piece of heavy cardboard to measure 4 inches by 5 inches. Wrap the yarn around the 4-inch side 15 times. Take a 4-inch length of yarn and tightly tie a double knot at one end of the card.

    • 9

Cut the loops of yarn at the other end of the card, opposite the knot, to make hair.

    • 10

Glue the hair to the back of the spoon.
