Instructions

    • 1

Turn the washing machine on at the hottest water setting, on the longest wash cycle.

    • 2

Pour one packet of powder dye into a one gallon bucket. Fill the bucket almost to the top with hot water. Stir the dye in the water until it dissolves; add the dye to the wash.

    • 3

Soak the jeans separately in the sink in hot water until they are completely saturated. Place the jeans in the washing machine and push them down into the colored water.

    • 4

Dye the jeans for 30 minutes.

    • 5

Remove the jeans from the wash when they are finished. Rinse the jeans under warm water until the water runs clear.

    • 6

Place the jeans in the dryer until they are dried completely, about 45 minutes.

    • 7

Fill the washing machine with hot water. Add one cup of regular detergent and one cup of bleach. Run the washing machine without any garments--this will ensure the inside of the machine does not stain.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ensure that no other fabrics or clothing are around to be dribbled on by the jeans as you dye them. The dye can spatter and stain the other items. You should also wear a smock or old clothing as to not stain your good clothing. You may also want to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from staining.
