If you are looking for a very basic webpage and you aren't interested in having your own domain name or paying a monthly fee, there are many options available that allow you to have a webpage for free. While most sites offset the cost by having ads and banners on your webpage, these ads are targeted. Targeted ads mean that they are ads that are similar in nature to the topic of your website. Designing a free website is something that even a novice webpage builder can complete due to the templates offered by most websites.

Visit a website that allows you to build a free website. A few sites to consider are Angelfire.com, Webby.com and Homestead.com.

Sign up for an account. While the basic sites are free, you do need to sign up to create one. The sign up generally only consists of your name and email address.

Choose a template. While most sites put their templates into sections based on topics, you are not obligated to use the template as described. Check out all of them to find one that suits you. Most templates will also have a variety of color choices from within each design.

Add text to your webpage. Adding text is normally very easy. There are two options for this. In some cases you will type into the area that you want the text to appear. In others you will have a text box in which to post your message.

Add photos to the site. The choices for adding photos is normally that you upload the photos from your computer to your free webpage account. After that it is drag and drop, that is you use your mouse to click on the photo in a list, and while holding the mouse button down, drag it to the place you want it on the webpage and then release the mouse button. The other option is for templates with preset photo areas. You click on the photo section and a list of your uploaded photos appear. You choose the photo that you want, click on it and then click a submit button. The photo from your list will now be on your webpage.

Save and submit your website. After creating your free webpage be sure to save and submit it. In some cases this is a single step. In others you have to specifically choose to submit the webpage to make it visible on the Internet. This can be good if you are working on a page and wish to finish it later. After you have the site the way you want, you can then submit it.
