Placing a bumper sticker on your car is an easy way to express your thoughts on various subjects. Making your own bumper sticker is a fun way to express your individuality and creativity. Making your own magnetic bumper sticker, however, does all of the above, as well as saves your car from permanent sticker marks. Doing this at home can be done with minimal steps, and in a very short amount of time.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a magnetic sheet. Depending on what shape of bumper magnet you would like will determine the kind of magnetic sheet you buy. Some sheets come precut (with perforations) and are ideal for rectangular, simple bumper stickers. Uncut sheets, however, will allow you to create complex and unique designs and shapes.

    • 2

Draw your design on the magnetic sheet with markers if you plan to create an artistic bumper sticker. If you want to create one with a little more structure and formality, run a greeting card program on your computer and open a template that you are happy with; edit the text to say what you want.

    • 3

Insert your magnetic sheet into your printer (if you are using a computer program to make your magnetic bumper sticker), and print the design onto the magnet. If you are designing your own magnet with markers and artistic flair, forego this step.

    • 4

Cut out the design of the magnet you want to create with scissors. This will be a simple task of following the perforated lines if you purchased a precut magnetic sheet. An uncut sheet will allow for more freedom in cutting different shapes for your bumper magnet.

    • 5

Brush a clear contact onto the top of the magnet you just created. This will help protect it from weathering and keep it from prematurely fading or having the ink run. Allow the contact to dry before slapping it onto your bumper.
