How to Reset an iPod to the Very Beginning
When no other troubleshooting methods work to fix a malfunctioning iPod, you might need to reset (known as "Restore" in iTunes) the device. Doing so will delete every song and video that has been saved on your iPod. You have different options for resetting your iPod. One will restore, or reset, the iPod back to the portable player's original settings. This will let you start from the very beginning with that iPod, without software updates installed on the player.
