How to Configure Microsoft Outlook 2007 to Recive Gmail
Microsoft Outlook 2007 offers a powerful tool to manage multiple email accounts that use a range of protocols, from Microsoft's proprietary Exchange format to more traditional POP- and IMAP-based email accounts. As Outlook 2007 can easily handle multiple email accounts, you may want to configure the client to retrieve personal emails from your Gmail account, so you have access to your personal accounts on the go, just as you do with your business email accounts. Thankfully, Google offers an IMAP server that allows easy integration between Gmail and Outlook 2007.

Under Account Type, choose "IMAP." The incoming mail server for Gmail is imap.gmail.com and the outgoing (SMTP) server is smtp.gmail.com. For logon credentials, use your full email address, including @gmail.com, for the username. You can set Outlook 2007 to remember your password if do not want to type it each time you open Outlook. Configure advanced settings. In the More Settings menu, there are several tabs that include advanced setup options. Click on the "Advanced" tab to set up server ports. The incoming server (IMAP) must be set to port 993, with SSL encryption selected. The outgoing server (SMTP) should use port 587 with TLS encryption.

Click "OK." Click "OK" to close the advanced settings menu. Next, click "Finish" to finalize Gmail account setup in Outlook 2007. If you have a large number of emails and files stored in your Gmail account, it will take a few minutes for Outlook 2007 to finish synchronizing with your Gmail account.
