How to Donate a Used Motorcycle
Donating a used motorcycle is a great way to help an important charity and receive a sizeable tax donation. Local and national charities exist that accept motorcycle donations--whether the motorcycle works or not. Many of these charities will pick the vehicle up from your home, making the donation process relatively simple for those who want to give.

1
Research charities that accept used motorcycle donations. Purple Heart has a car and motorcycle donation program that benefits wounded and disabled soldiers. Other national organizations that accept motorcycle donations include Action Donation Services and Cars 4 Causes. To find local resources for motorcycle donations, contact area churches, the regional office for the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, or any other nonprofit organization that you value.
-
2
Determine how much of the motorcycle donation goes to benefiting the charity. Some charity businesses that accept vehicle donations collect a fee for picking up and selling the vehicles at auctions. If you want the charity to receive the entire donation amount, you might want to consider donating to the charity directly.

3
Fill out a vehicle donation form for the charity of your choice. These donation forms can be found online on the organizations' websites or by calling the charity or motorcycle donation service. On the form, you'll need to fill out your name, address and information on the motorcycle that is being donated.
-
4
Make arrangements for the motorcycle to be picked up. Once you fill out the vehicle donation form, someone from the organization should contact you to set up a date and time for the vehicle to be towed away.
-
5
Have the motorcycle, keys and the vehicle title ready for pick up when the tow truck arrives. The title will need to be supplied to the tow truck driver in order to complete the donation process.
-
6
Make sure to collect a receipt for your donation so that you can deduct the amount from your taxes as a charitable contribution.
