How to Detect If ActiveX Is Enabled

ActiveX controls are small applications that let you view and interact with certain web features on certain sites. They may include animation, games or forms that you fill out to communicate with the site. ActiveX is a feature on Internet Explorer. To make sure that your ActiveX controls are enabled, you will have to check the settings on your browser.

  • Open Internet Explorer.

  • Hit "Tools" in the main menu bar.

  • Scroll down and click "Internet Options."

  • Select the "Security" tab.

  • Click the "Custom Level" button.

  • Scroll through the list of settings. Find the ActiveX settings and make sure the radio button is set to "enable" on each of the settings.
