How to Search for Yahoo! Friends

Searching for friends on Yahoo! is quick and easy.

Yahoo! provides its members with access to instant messaging, games, email, social networking facilities and a search engine. Once you have created a Yahoo! account, you can make a profile, search for friends and contact them to chat and share media. Users create their own screen name (or user ID), and you can search for your friends on Yahoo! by using the Yahoo! profile search.

Instructions

1. Open your web browser and go to the Yahoo! Profile Search (see Resources). You will need to be signed in to your Yahoo! account to access this feature.

2. Find the "Search" box at the top right side of the web page, next to the "Connections" section.

3. Type in the first and last names of the friend you wish to search for. If you want to conduct a more refined search, you can enter the person's nickname/user ID instead. View the search results to see the profiles of various Yahoo! members. You may be able to contact them through email or the Yahoo! instant messaging program, depending upon the information they provide in their profiles.

Tips & Warnings

• Be wary of including information that is too personal in your profile. Yahoo! only requires you to include your Yahoo! ID and gender.
