Our mobile phones have become our virtual offices, carrying our text messages, contact lists, photographs, and even important documents and presentations. Which means if you lose it you've lost more than just a phone, and it could actually be harmful to your career. The smart thing to do would be to back up your data from your mobile phone to your laptop. There are a few ways to do this both with and without cables.
Things You'll Need
- Cell phone data kit
Get a cell phone data cable kit. Your mobile phone may have already come with this. If not then you can purchase them on line (see resources below) or at your local cell phone or computer shop. This data cable will allow your computer and mobile phone to communicate.
Insert the CD-rom that comes with the kit into the drive on your computer. The installation wizard will ask you if you wish to install the software. Click "Yes" and follow the installation instructions.
Turn your laptop on. Plug the cable into the bottom of your cell phone and plug the other end into the USB port on your computer. Wait for a few seconds and Windows will detect a new hardware installation. It will ask you if you want to install the drivers. Click "Yes" and then click on "Have Disk" and "Browse." Navigate over to your CD-Rom drive and find the "Drivers" folder. Click "Next" and it will begin installing the drivers onto your laptop.
Open up the application that you installed earlier. Go to "File" and then "Synchronize Phone." This will download all of your data to the application so that it is backed up on your computer.
