How to Convert Two Cups of Chocolate Chips to Grams

The problem with converting between the two exists because cups measure volume but grams measure weight. The number of grams per cup of an ingredient differ based on the ingredient used. While you might use All Recipe's conversion of 152 grams per cup of chocolate chips, weighing your brand of chocolate chips will give you the most accurate conversion.

Things You'll Need

• Digital kitchen scale
• Plate
• 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Set a plate onto a kitchen scale and press the start button to return the display to zero.

2. Pour 2 cups chocolate chips onto the plate on the scale and note the weight in ounces.

3. Divide the weight in ounces by .035 to find the weight in grams for 2 cups chocolate chips. For instance, if your chocolate chips measured 10 oz. for 2 cups, divide 10 by 0.35 to find 10/0.35 = 285.7 grams for 2 cups chocolate chips.
