How to Reboot a Gateway Laptop

Many things can cause a computer to run slowly, such as programs that hog resources or simply a program that locks up. While in some cases, you may need to upgrade components, in most instances, simply rebooting the computer will fix the problem. If you've noticed that your Gateway laptop is running a little slow, rebooting it may make a huge difference.

Instructions

In Windows Vista/7

1. Click the Vista/7 orb located on the bottom left of the screen.

2. Click the "Arrow" next to the "Shutdown" icon.

3. Select "Restart."

4. Wait for the laptop to reboot and then log in as usual. You've successfully rebooted your Gateway laptop.

In Windows XP

1. Click the green "Start" button.

2. Click the drop-down menu next to "Shut down."

3. Select "Restart" from the drop-down menu.

4. Click "OK" to reboot the laptop.

5. Wait for the laptop to reboot and then log in as usual. You've successfully rebooted your Gateway laptop.

Tips & Warnings

• Reboot your computer whenever you notice that it is running slower than normal. While this won't always fix the problem, in many cases, it does.
