How to Make a Banner Link to a Website

Banners on the Internet are a good way to drive traffic to a website. Placed on the right webpages, you can make brief contact with the people who may want to read your blog or buy your produce. Linking a banner to a website requires some basic HTML knowledge and a simple HTML editor so you can input the banner's URL and the proper website link.

Things You'll Need

• Banner’s URL
• Website URL

Instructions

1. Open your HTML editor on your computer or on the Internet.

2. Select the place in your webpage where you want to insert the linked banner. Click on it.

3. Type: <A HREF="URL Of website"><IMG SRC="banner image"></A>
   Type in the real URL of the website you want to link to, including the “http” and type in the actual banner’s name and file extension like this: <A HREF="http://www.website.com"><IMG SRC="banner.extension"></A>

4. Add the full URL of the banner if the banner is in a directory other than the HTML page you are creating. (ref 2) The banner’s URL will look something like this: <A HREF="http://www.website.com"><IMG SRC="http://www.website.com/images/banner.extension"></A>.

Tips & Warnings

• The banner’s file extension should be in one of the following formats: GIF, JPEG or JPG, PNG or BMP.
