How to Put New Songs on Guitar Hero 3 for PS3

"Guitar Hero III" lets players experience their favorite rock songs in a new way.

"Guiter Hero III: Legends of Rock" is the first entry in the wildly popular "Guitar Hero" series to appear on the PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game and media entertainment console. The game offers rhythm-action gameplay in which players are challenged to replay classic rock songs using a plastic controller resembling a guitar. One feature of the game's PS3 incarnation is the ability to download and add extra songs to the game in the form of DLC (downloadable content) from the PlayStation Store.

Instructions

1. Turn on your PlayStation 3 without the "Guitar Hero III" game disc in the drive.

2. Select "Network" in the main menu.

3. Select the "PlayStation Store" tab and navigate to "Addons." This section offers free and paid content that can be added to your games. New songs for "Guitar Hero III" are paid content that will be charged to the credit card associated with your PlayStation network account.

4. Use your PlayStation controller's D-pad to scroll down the list until you find songs for "Guitar Hero III" that you want to download. Some songs are released as stand-alone content; others are provided in "packs" similar to albums that can be downloaded at a per-song discount price.

5. Use the controller's "Cross" button to select the song or pack that you wish to purchase. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to purchase the content. Once the purchase is confirmed, the song will be downloaded and added to your song library.

6. Insert the "Guitar Hero III" game disc. Navigate to the "Game" menu and select "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock." The software will boot up with your new songs added to the playable roster for all modes of the game.

Tips & Warnings

• If you don't have a PlayStation network account, you can create one by opening the "Friends" section of your PlayStation 3 menu and selecting "Sign Up for PlayStation Network." Downloading paid content requires a valid credit card, which can be added to the "Wallet" section of your PlayStation network account.
