Instructions

    • 1

      Open the uTorrent software.

Scroll down and change "bt.enable_tracker" to "True."

    • 4

    • 5

Find your computer's IP address. This can be done by clicking start and typing "CMD" into run. This will open the command prompt. Once the command prompt is open, type "ipconfig" and your computer's IP address (sometimes referred to as IPv4 address) will be displayed.

Determine your listen port. To do this from uTorrent click Options, then Preferences, then Connection, then Port Used for Incoming Connections.

    • 7

Create a torrent from the uTorrent File menu.

    • 8

Enter http://your_ip_address:your_listen_port/announce for the tracker URL. For example, if your IP address is 123.456.78.90 and your listen port was 55544, the URL would look like this: http://123.456.78.90:55544/announce.

    • 9

Check "Start Seeding." Make sure that "Private Torrent" is checked if you would like to make your torrent private.

    • 10

Click "Create and Save As" to save the torrent. The status will display "working."

Tips & Warnings

  • If the connection gives you a "Time Out" error, you may have entered the wrong IP Address or Listen Port. Double-check to make sure these are entered correctly.

  • Always verify that you are not creating public torrents with copyrighted material as it is illegal to distribute copywritten material without the copyright holder's permission.
