How to Water Topsy Turvy Tomatoes
Gardeners with limited growing space often turn to container growing when they wish to grow vegetables and flowers. The Topsy Turvy planter is an upside-down planter in which the plant hangs upside down with the root system in an enclosed container at the top of the hanging apparatus, and the plant stems and foliage extend out from the bottom of the container. A Topsy Turvy planter can be especially suitable for gardeners with physical limitations that make it difficult to reach plants growing on ground level. Water Topsy Turvy tomatoes easily while you stand completely erect. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Fill the watering can to the top with cool water.
-
2
Stand on the stepladder, if necessary, to reach the top of the Topsy Turvy planter. Find the opening in the top center of the planter designed to enable easy watering.
-
-
3
Pour the water from the watering can directly into the opening at the top of the planter. Continue pouring water until the water flows out freely from the bottom of the container (trickling down onto the tomato plant foliage).
-
4
Provide water for a tomato plant growing in a Topsy Turvy planter every day when the temperature is very warm or every other day if the temperature is moderately warm. Watch the tomato plant for signs that it needs water--if the plant begins to wilt slightly, provide water for the tomato plant until water streams out from the bottom of the container.
