How to Create a Blog Home Page
As blogs grow in numbers and popularity, online blog sites have made their creation easier. On many of these sites, creating your own blog can be accomplished in just minutes. The biggest question facing those looking for a blog is, "Which blog site should I use?"

1
Choose a host. Several of the more popular blogging sites make blog creation a snap. Some of these are LiveJournal.com, Blogger.com and WordPress.com (see Resources). Literally thousands of make-your-own blog sites are available.
-
2
Register your blog (and domain). All of these blog sites require you to register and create the name of the site and domain. Choose a name that reflects the topic or theme of the site. For instance, if you want to create a mommy blog (very popular), don't name the blog after yourself. Choose a more generic, mommy-oriented name.

3
Create an "About" page for the blog. Most blog sites prompt you to do this, but some don't. It's worth the time to share a little about yourself. It helps the site's eventual visitors to understand the angle from which the posts originate and makes the experience more personal. Check out the options on the "Dashboard," your administrative portal to organize and add to your site.

4
Write your first post, and don't worry about being too opinionated. Share your thoughts openly, and make a point with your writing. Blogs are supposed to be that way. Every new post you make automatically moves to the top of the list of posts.
-
5
Keep posting. Don't let your blog stagnate. Visitors keep coming when new information is added regularly.

Tips & Warnings
Consider picking up a dead blog if you're an expert on the topic. Some blog sites like Orble.com allow you to do this. It gives you an already active readership, which saves you a lot of time.
Most blogs also have a sidebar where you can add modules or widgets to add extra information, links, RSS feeds or pictures for visitors.
If you don't want a blog hosting site to append its own name to your blog, try paying another host and installing the WordPress script through Fantastico. Then you can have your own dot.com instead.
