How to Remove Stains From a Persian Carpet

Things You'll Need
- Clean white cloth rag
- Cold water
- Unscented powdered laundry detergent
- Hair dryer or fan
- Dry-cleaning solution

Blot up any wet liquid on the Persian carpet with a white cloth or paper towel. Blot gently so you do not press the stain deeper into the carpet.

Apply a white cloth or paper towel soaked in cold water to the stain. Continue blotting until the stain no longer transfers color to the white cloth.

Mix 1 teaspoon of powdered laundry detergent and a 1/2 pint of water in a bucket. Test the soap on an inconspicuous area on the carpet before treating the stain to make sure the soap does not strip color from the carpet. Apply the detergent solution to the stain with a clean rag. Blot at the stain with the rag, and avoid rubbing. Continue blotting until the stain is removed.

Remove the soap from the Persian rug with a clean wet rag, blotting the surface until the soap residue is gone.

Dry the area with a hair dryer or a fan placed near the wet space.

Spray a dry-cleaning solution on the Persian carpet if detergent cleaning does not remove the stain. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use.
