How to Use a Handheld Heat Sealer on Gift Baskets
If you are a creative gift giver, you have probably made several gift baskets over the course of your lifetime. Gift baskets are a fun and clever way to give several small, yet meaningful gifts to a friend or family member. One of the main problems with gift baskets is that they are difficult to wrap. To make your gift basket look like it was wrapped professionally, try using a hand held heat sealer and some cellophane wrap.

1
Measure the width of the basket by placing the tape measure at the bottom of the basket and then wrapping it around the basket at its widest part. Add 20 percent to that number. For instance, if your gift basket is 72 inches wide, you would add 20 percent, or 8 inches, giving you a total of 80 inches. Divide this number by 2 to get the width in inches that you will need to cut your cellophane. In this case, 40 inches.

2
Measure the height of the basket by placing the tape measure at the top of the basket and then wrapping it all the way around the bottom and back up to the top. This will be the length of the cellophane that you will use.

3
Cut a square of cellophane wrap the width and height of the numbers you calculated in steps one and two. Lay the cellophane flat on the table and fold it over itself so that the crease is in the middle.

4
Use the hand held heat sealer according to its instructions to seal the two sides of the cellophane. You should now have a large gift bag with an opening at the top.

5
Slide your gift basket into the bag and gather the top of the cellophane together. Tie off the excess cellophane with a decorative ribbon to complete the wrapping process.
