You can burn a data CD using Windows Media player.

Windows Media Player is the standard media player for the Windows operating system. This software allows you to perform numerous media functions, including burning both audio and data CDs. When you burn a data CD in Windows Media Player, your files are not converted. Instead, the files are kept in the native format and burned directly onto the CD. The advantage of burning a data CD is that you can fit many more files than on an audio CD. You can burn three types of data files using Windows Media Player: picture, video and music files.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a blank CD into the optical drive of your computer. Close the AutoPlay dialog box if it automatically pops up.

    • 2

Click "Start" and then launch Windows Media Player.

    • 3

Click the "Burn" tab located at the top of the application. Select "Burn data CD or DVD."

    • 4

Drag data files from the "Details" pane to the "Burn List" pane. The "Details" pane is located on the left side of the program, while the "Burn List" pane is located on the right side of the program.

    • 5

Click the "Start Burn" button once you've added and ordered all of the data files you want to burn to the CD.

When I try to burn data to a cd, Windows Media Player will only enter one item on the disk. I am using CD-R, which holds 80 min of data, but the player asks for a new disk after 40 min. It has not always done this. what is wrong? Thanks for the help.
