An IP address is like a phone number or address for someone who is online. You can use IP addresses to figure out where a person is sending an email from, where they are online, or who they are. Hackers use IP addresses to steal personal information, so be careful when you are looking for someone's IP address. Finding out the IP address of a person using NetZero is an easy process that you can do on your own in a few minute's time.

Instructions

1. Open a secure connection with the person using Netzero. You can establish a connection through an Internet chat, a chat-room chat, or even by emailing a file or MP3. You must have a connection open with the person as you search for their IP.

2. Open your Start menu and then click "Run."

3. Type "cmd" or "command" into the box and then press enter. This will bring up a black screen with a command prompt where you can type commands.

4. Type "netstat" into the box and press ""Enter." The IP address of the NetZero user you are currently connected with will be displayed.

Tips & Warnings

• You must have a connection with the person to find their IP address.

• Having an open connection also means you are at risk for identity theft or Fraud. Be careful when opening up a connection to find someone else's IP address.
