How to Emboss Scrapbook Die Cuts
Paper crafters use a wide variety of tools to create projects such as scrapbook pages and homemade cards. One such tool is an embossing machine. An embossing machine allows a paper crafter to add subtle dimension to a project by simply cranking a paper shape through the machine.
Things You'll Need
- Paper die cut shape
- Embossing folders
- Embossing plates
- Embossing machine

1
Place your paper die cut shape inside an embossing folder. To get a specific part of the embossing design on your die cut shape, place the die cut shape over that part of the embossing folder.
-
2
Place the embossing folder between the embossing plates according to the sandwiching instructions specific to your particular embossing machine. The embossing plates you need to use with your specific machine will come with the machine. For example, if you have the Sizzix Texture Boutique, place the folder on top of one of the black plates that comes with the machine. Then, place the white embossing plastic sheet, that also comes with the machine, on top of the folder and the other black plate on top of that. While most embossing machines are similar in operation (and easy to operate), they may have different "sandwiching" instructions and different kinds of plates.

3
Place the folder, die cut and plates (sandwich) into the opening of the machine. Turn the crank so that the whole "sandwich" moves through the machine (until it comes through to the other side of the machine).
-
4
Remove the die cut shape from inside the embossing folder. You will now have a distinctive die cut to add to your scrapbook project.
