1
Choose one female and one male dog that are the same size. Purchase the dogs at a neighborhood pet store, make them when creating a Sim family or adopt dogs off the street. Dogs come in small and large breeds. Ensure that an adopted female dog is not already pregnant. For example, an existing female dog with the same last name as a male dog will already be pregnant with puppies.

Click on the dogs while playing the Sim person to choose an option such as "Train," "Play" or "Cuddle" to keep the animal happy. Keep the food bowls filled and cater to the pets' needs. Look at the bubbles that appear above the dogs' heads to get an idea of what the animals want or need. Check their status bars for "Hunger," "Social" and more to ensure they are happy.

Regularly check the friend status of the two dogs under the dogs' "Relationship" tabs. The dogs must be friends or best friends to breed. This may take some time, since you cannot control the dogs' actions directly. Locate the dogs' names in the list of friends. If there is a smiley face, double-smiley face or heart by the dogs, they are ready to breed.

Click on the "Buy" button that looks like a chair. Click on the "Miscellaneous" button that looks like three intertwined circles. Click on the dog bowl icon to open the pet products section. Choose a dog house and place it somewhere on the Sim's property. The dogs must have a dog house to breed.

5
Select the Sim person's profile and click on one of the dogs. Select the option that says "Try for Puppies With" and select the other dog's name. If the option does not appear, the dogs may need a better relationship with the Sim person or the other dog.
