1
Use the US H hook and chain 13. Make a single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in every chain across. Chain one and turn. Single crochet in the back loops only of every stitch across the next row, then chain one and turn; repeat this for several more rows, until the piece is long enough to wrap around your ankle snugly. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

2
Sew the short ends of your piece together with a large-eye blunt needle and the tail you left when you fastened off. This will form a stretchy tube that fits over your ankle.

3
Use the US H hook and join your yarn with a slip stitch to the top edge of the tube you have made. Make one single crochet in the end of each row on the top of the tube. Chain one and make two single crochet stitches in every stitch around. Chain one and make one single crochet stitch in every stitch around; repeat this until the legwarmers are the desired height. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Use the US G hook and repeat Step 1. This time, crochet until you can wrap it snugly around your calf just below your knee. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew the short ends together using this tail in order to make a tube.

5
Turn the legwarmer inside out. Use your large-eye blunt needle and, using the long tail from the legwarmer, whipstitch the top edge of the legwarmer to the bottom edge of the ribbing you made in Step 4. You may have to stretch the ribbing as you sew in order to make it even. Turn the legwarmer right side out and slide it on. The ribbing will fit snugly on your ankle and upper calf in order to hold it in place. Work any loose ends into the stitches for a clean finish. Repeat the process to make the second legwarmer.
