How to Stop Telemarketers From Calling My Cell Phone

There is almost nothing more annoying than receiving telemarketing calls for a service or product you have no interest in. The only exception may be receiving these telemarketing calls on your cell phone, where you have to pay per minute for the privilege. The Federal Trade Commission allows you to place your phone number on a "No-Call" list. If you continue to receive telemarketing calls on that number, you can file a complaint on that company.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the National Do Not Call Registry's website at DoNotCall.gov. See resources for a link directly to the registration page.

    • 2

Enter your cell phone number, as well as up to two other numbers, into the correct fields.

    • 3

Enter your email address in the correct field. Enter your email address again for confirmation purposes.

    • 4

Login to your email account to locate the email message from register@donotcall.gov and open the email message. Click the link in the email message to confirm your cell phone number registration.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have Internet access, you can also register by calling 1-888-382-1222 from the number you want to add to the National Do Not Call Registry.

  • The National Do Not Call Registry prevents telemarketing calls from businesses. If you have service with a business or have agreed to have them contact you, the Do Not Call Registry does not apply to them.
