These programs are available to download free on either the Microsoft or Apple websites, depending on which program you want.

Click "Pictures" in Movie Maker to search and pick the images you want, then click "Import." If you are using iMovie, drag any photos from your iPhoto library, which is displayed in the bottom left of the iMovie window, up into the current project window.

    • 3

Click and drag the photos to move them into the order you want on the timeline in both Movie Maker and iMovie.

Click "Transitions" in Movie Maker to choose any effect and drag it in between the photos. For iMovie, the "Transitions" icon is on the right side. Let the arrow hover over the transitions to view them and drag the ones you like in between your photos. Transitions help your slideshow appear more professional.

Drag an MP3 file or other audio track from your desktop into the section labeled "audio/music" in the Movie Maker window. For iMovie, browse your iTunes library on the right side of the window, then drag any song from the list up to your slide show. In both programs you can adjust the length of the tracks by right clicking the track and choosing "Trim."

Click on "Titles and Credits" in Movie Maker, enter a title and any names to credit, then select a font and color before clicking "Add Title." For iMovie, the "T" icon on the right will allow you to browse title and credit pages, which you can drag to the appropriate place in your slide show. Enter the text and adjust the font and color once the pages are in place.
