How to Remove Oil Stains From Micro Suede
Micro suede is type of micro fiber that is woven to resemble suede. Not only is micro suede much less expensive than authentic suede, but it also is easier to care for. Many items, such as clothing and handbags, are made of this fabric. However, a common use for micro suede is on furniture. Although micro suede is said to be stain resistant, some stains, such as oil and grease, will leave a mark on this fabric. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Clean white towels
- Corn starch
- Vacuum
- Mild dish detergent
- Old toothbrush

Blot the stain well with a clean towel to remove any residual oil. Make sure you blot rather than rub to keep from spreading the oil.

Sprinkle the stained area with corn starch to absorb the oil. Let sit overnight, and vacuum well. You may need to repeat this step more than once to lift as much of the oil as possible.

Wet a towel with warm water, just until damp. Add a very small amount of mild dish detergent, and blot at the oil stain.

Dampen another clean towel with just water, and blot at the area until the soap residue is gone.

Let the area dry completely. If the area has gotten "hard" from removing the stain, which is common with micro suede, wet your toothbrush and gently scrub the area.

Tips & Warnings
Before using dish detergent on micro suede, test in a hidden area to make sure the color won't fade.
For best results, treat the stain as soon as possible.
