1
Draw a large circle or an oval shape on your paper to act as the head. You can use a square or rectangle if you want, but round shapes work best. Keep your pencil lines very faint.
-
2
Draw a vertical line down the middle of the head and a horizontal line across the middle of the head also. These lines will act as guides. Draw circles to act as eyes, on the horizontal line, to the left and right of the vertical line. Draw a triangle for a nose on the vertical line below the eyes, and a small horizontal line below the nose for a mouth.

3
Draw semicircles on either side of the head where the horizontal line touches the sides of the head for ears. Now you have the basic template for a simple face.
-
4
Add details such as eyebrows and hair. Add pupils to the eyes as well. You can add dots for freckles or small "c" shapes for warts. You could also add markings such as tattoos and scars. You could add expression to the face by giving it a smile or a frown. Keep the pencil lines faint.

5
Take your fine-liner pen and draw on top of the pencil lines you want to keep. Take care while following the lines as mistakes cannot be erased. Wait a few moments to let the pen ink dry before erasing the pencil lines underneath as the ink can smudge. You should be left with a clean line drawing.

6
Color in your face to complete your creation. This template can be used to draw any type of face. Just change the details to add variety.
