Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
-
1
Hold the orange on a cutting board so that the navel, or stem end, is on your right.
-
2
Cut the very end off the right end of the orange. Try to get only peel; don't just whack off a few inches. Aim to leave all of the segments intact.
-
-
3
Slice an even thinner sliver off the left end.
-
4
Hold the orange with the cut left end facing down. Use a very sharp paring knife to make a shallow cut through the peel only, from the top to the bottom.
-
5
Turn the orange one-quarter turn--keeping the top and bottom where they are--and make another shallow cut through the peel. Do this two more times, so that orange peel is sliced through vertically in four places.
-
6
Slide a spoon between the peel at the top of one scored segment and the orange sections beneath the peel. Wiggle the spoon to loosen the peel and repeat for the other three sections.
-
7
Use your fingers to gently pull the loosened peel away from the segments.
