How to Change the Format of MPEG Files to Play on DVD
MPEG is a popular video format you can either create with a video editor or download from the Internet. MPEG files can be played by most media players, and you do not need to perform any special formatting to write the movie files onto a DVD. All DVD-burning software can recognize the video files and automatically convert them to a video DVD. Once on the video DVD, you can watch the MPEG videos via either computer or standalone DVD player.

1
Insert a blank DVD into the DVD burner, close out any auto-play windows, and launch the DVD-burning software installed on the computer. Although the exact burning software varies depending on the brand of your computer (or the brand of your DVD burner, if purchased as an add-on to the system), all DVD-burning programs run in essentially the same way.
-
2
Choose the "Video DVD" format. This option is typically given either at the top or on the left side of the program window.
-
-
3
Select "Add Files" and choose the MPEG video files you want to burn to the DVD. Click "OK," and the video files are added to the main viewing window of the burner. (You can also click and drag the video files into the window, if you choose.)
-
4
Title the DVD in the "Title" window, then select a menu display (the menu and background image around the videos that appears on a standalone DVD player).
-
5
Click "Burn," and the DVD-burning software changes the format and places the videos onto the DVD.
