How to Clean Grout on Kitchen Ceramic Tile
Grout is used between ceramic tiles to create an even, finished look. Tile floors are popular and found in the kitchens of many homes, making them susceptible to food stains, spills and other residue that leaves the grout unclean and in need of attention. To clean the grout, you need to use ingredients that are strong enough to remove all of the dirt and buildup, without damaging the grout or surrounding ceramic tile. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Dish detergent
- Vinegar, optional
- Water
- Cleaning bucket
- Old toothbrush
- Sponge

Fill a bucket with 1/2 gallon of hot water and 2 squirts of liquid dish soap. Add 2 tsp. vinegar for a disinfectant to kill germs or bacteria that may be present due to a spill or raw foods.

Dip a sponge into the soapy water, and wring out slightly.

Wipe the wet, soapy sponge across the grout. This lifts most light buildup and is safe for use on the ceramic tile.

Dip a toothbrush into the soapy water and scrub over areas of heavy residue.

Rinse the cleaning sponge with fresh warm water. Wipe across the grout to lift any remaining soap residue.

Allow the grout and tile to air dry.
