How to Block an IP Address With a Firewall

The Windows operating system includes a built-in firewall tool, which is essential to keeping your computer secure and protected from outside threats. If you know that a specific outside IP address is attempting to gain unauthorized access to your system, you can block the connection by modifying the Windows firewall settings. When configuring the firewall, you can specify which range of IP addresses is allowed to communicate with your computer. All other addresses outside of the range will be blocked.
