How to Fold a Neckerchief
Though few people wear neckerchiefs as every day accessories anymore, some still don them either as part of a uniform or as a decorative way to keep their necks warm. Neckerchiefs look like larger versions of bandanas, being a large square of fabric of a solid color or with a pattern. The pattern depends on the purpose; a Boy Scout troop might have a specific logo on their neckerchiefs while fashion accessories may be decorated with stripes or paisley patterns.
No matter their purpose, knowing how to tie a neckerchief is important for the wearer. Not only does proper tying look clean and finished as part of a uniform, it keeps the neckerchief in place and allows the wearer to adjust it if necessary.

1
Fold the neckerchief in half diagonally to form a triangle. Make sure the seams are inside the fold so they cannot be seen.
-
2
Lay the triangle so the flat edge is at the top. Fold the triangle in half from right to left, then again from left to right. If the wearer is a child, fold from right to left once more to form a small triangle. If not, two folds works fine.

3
Pinch the two corners of the flat edge between the thumb and forefinger of each hand and fold the flat edge downward about an inch. Repeat twice more.
-
4
Slip the neckerchief over your shoulders with the flat edge closest to your neck and the inch-wide folds against your shoulders. Pull the corners over your shoulders so right end hangs about 4 inches longer than the left.
-
5
Cross the right end over the left, forming a V. Pull the right end up and under the left end then down so the ends are intertwined and hang evenly. Repeat step 5 and pull the knot tight to finish.
